Meeting Between MoS Rajeev Chandrasekhar and OpenAI CEO Sam Altman is Expected.

Rajeev Chandrasekhar, India’s Union Minister of State for Electronics and Information Technology, is expected to meet with Sam Altman, OpenAI’s founder and CEO during Altman’s visit to India this week. The two are expected to discuss India’s flagship India AI programme, as well as the draft law for digital technology which features provisions for artificial intelligence regulation. Altman has suggested an international authority is needed to regulate advanced AI development, to better ensure safety standards compliance. Chandrasekhar has indicated the Indian government’s exploration of AI regulation under the presumption of user harm will be incorporated in the Digital India Bill draft.
