Fudan University’s Natural Language Processing Laboratory recently announced the official launch of the newest version of their open source MOSS model. It is the first conversational language model of its kind to be released in China, and it features a number of plugin enhancements. The MOSS model was developed by Professor Qiu Xipeng’s team, who named it after the AI in the movie “The Wandering Earth”. Anyone can gain access to the code, data, and model parameters of the model from platforms such as Github and Hugging Face.
The MOSS base language model is preloaded with about 700 billion Chinese and English words, and code words. Researchers, companies and individuals are now welcome to participate in the beta testing of MOSS, which offers its users a wide range of Natural Language Processing solutions.

Professor Qiu Xipeng has great contribution to the Chinese artificial intelligence academia, and his team developed MOSS, which is the first conversational language model in China.
