AI Becomes Minecraft Pro with GPT-4 Technology

Researchers have developed an AI bot named Voyager, which can play Minecraft like an expert, all thanks to the latest AI model, known as GPT-4. Unlike conventional bots, Voyager has trained itself by creating its own code using GPT-4 queries. Minecraft is an ideal testing ground for developing AI models due to its approximation of the real world, and AI learning is facilitated by MineDojo, a simulation framework developed around Minecraft. The objective of the research is to empower modest AI models to improve their capabilities through experiential learning and effectively apply that knowledge in future endeavors. Notably, GPT-4 outperformed GPT-3.5 (ChatGPT) in generating useful code, highlighting significant advancements in coding capabilities. The ultimate goal of this research is to develop robots capable of assisting people in different environments, including homes, hospitals, and offices.
