Microsoft Adds Azure OpenAI Service to Government Cloud, Expediting Innovation and Fraud Prevention

Microsoft’s Azure OpenAI service has been added to the Azure Government cloud services platform, according to Candice Ling, Microsoft Federal’s vice president of strategic missions and technologies. Ling also stated that Microsoft plans to seek FedRAMP High certification, as well as Department of Defense Impact Level 4 and 5 authorizations for Azure OpenAI. The integration of generative AI has enabled Microsoft to expedite the writing and editing of request for proposals for government entities. Additionally, Azure OpenAI can be used by agencies to detect abnormalities in financial documents and prevent fraud, while also assisting case workers with workload management. The effectiveness of the platform has been demonstrated in various government departments, including the National Institutes of Health‘s National Library of Medicine, where it is being utilized to match clinical trials with eligible patients and their physicians. Overall, the integration of Azure OpenAI into Azure Government aims to enhance innovation and efficiency within the government sector.
