OpenAI CEO discusses India’s tech ecosystem with PM Modi

Date:

OpenAI CEO Sam Altman recently met with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi to discuss the incredible tech ecosystem in India and how the country can benefit from artificial intelligence (AI). Altman, who addressed students and others at the Indraprastha Institute of Information Technology Delhi earlier this week, enjoyed a great conversation with Modi. The OpenAI CEO stated that the company behind ChatGPT is not presently training GPT5, the successor to GPT4, as they have a lot of work to do before they begin. Altman’s comments come amid concerns among AI researchers and big tech executives about the technology’s alarming pace of development. In March, Elon Musk and Steve Wozniak, among other top entrepreneurs and AI researchers, wrote an open letter, asking all AI labs to immediately pause training of AI systems more powerful than GPT-4 for at least six months.
