YouTube recently announced the expansion of its ‘Playables’ games feature to all users on both mobile and desktop platforms. Initially reserved for Premium subscribers, Playables now offers access to a library of over 75 free games that can be played directly on the YouTube website or through the Android and iOS apps.
Some of the popular casual titles included in the Playables collection are Angry Birds Showdown, Cut the Rope, Trivia Crack, as well as classic games like chess and crossword puzzles. Users can conveniently save their progress and track high scores while enjoying these games.
To access the Playables games on your desktop browser, simply visit YouTube.com, scroll down the menu on the left side of the homepage, and click on Playables under the Explore section. For those using the YouTube app, tap on the compass icon in the top-left corner of the home page, scroll down, and tap on Playables.
The decision to make Playables available to all users comes amidst a trend where tech companies are incorporating casual games into their services to engage and retain users. Although YouTube has yet to announce any plans for monetization, Playables could potentially serve as an additional platform for advertising to users in the future.
The extended rollout of Playables is expected to be completed in the following weeks, providing YouTube’s massive user base with a new way to enjoy games between video binges. This move signifies YouTube’s commitment to enhancing user experience and expanding its offerings across different entertainment mediums.
The introduction of Playables not only diversifies YouTube’s content but also taps into the growing demand for casual gaming experiences among online audiences. As YouTube continues to evolve and innovate, it remains a prominent player in the digital entertainment landscape, offering more interactive and engaging experiences for its users.
