Will AI ChatGPT Tools Lead to Fewer Hires? Majority of Small Business Owners Believe So

Small business owners in the United States are divided on whether AI tools such as OpenAI’s ChatGPT will result in fewer hires, according to a FreshBooks report. While two-thirds of small business owners do not believe AI will replace employees, 44% expect to use the technology to reduce the number of new hires, with larger businesses more likely to do so than smaller ones. Around 80% of respondents are concerned about privacy, ethical and intellectual property issues around the use of AI, but a quarter said they were currently using or testing generative AI tools, with two-thirds planning to use them in business soon.
