Microsoft Copilot Pro and OpenAI’s ChatGPT Plus are two popular AI-powered subscription services that offer a range of features for users. Both subscriptions provide access to GPT-4 and GPT-4 Turbo, real-time information, image generation with DALL-E 3, and document and file analysis. However, there are specific advantages to each service that may influence your choice.
Copilot Pro focuses its AI-powered analysis primarily on images and Microsoft Office files. It should be noted that to analyze Office files, you will need a Microsoft 365 Personal or Family subscription. On the other hand, ChatGPT Plus allows you to upload and analyze a wider range of files, including Microsoft Office files, text files, PDFs, images, audio files, code files, and archived files.
OpenAI offers a GPT store where you can browse and search for custom GPTs created by businesses and other subscribers. This feature allows you to invoke a specific GPT within an existing conversation. Although Microsoft has plans to offer a custom Copilot GPT store, it is not currently available.
ChatGPT Plus has an additional advantage in that it allows you to create your own custom GPTs. This process is made easier with ChatGPT’s AI-based assistance. You can use your custom GPT privately, share it with others in your business or organization, or publish it in the GPT store for other subscribers to try. While Microsoft has stated that Copilot Pro users will be able to create GPTs, this capability is not yet available.
In terms of image generation, Copilot Pro allows you to generate up to 100 images per day, while ChatGPT Plus doubles the fun by enabling the creation of up to 200 images daily.
Both Copilot Pro and ChatGPT Plus are accessible through dedicated websites and mobile apps. However, Copilot Pro goes a step further by integrating directly into Windows. This integration allows users to access Copilot Pro with a simple click on the Taskbar icon in Windows 10 or 11.
When it comes to providing information, Copilot Pro excels in delivering a more visual look and layout. For instance, when asked to name 20 top attractions in London, Copilot Pro provides a response that includes links, photos, maps, and sources for each attraction. ChatGPT Plus, on the other hand, provides a numbered list with brief descriptions but lacks links.
In terms of image generation, Copilot Pro outshines ChatGPT Plus. Copilot Pro’s Designer tool generates four different images to choose from by default, while ChatGPT Plus produces only one image at a time. Additionally, Copilot Pro offers options to fine-tune and regenerate images, select specific styles, and even edit images within the tool.
Copilot Pro offers additional features such as easy sharing, exporting to Word or other programs, and the ability to have the generated content read aloud. ChatGPT Pro allows users to copy, regenerate, or rate the response.
Ultimately, both services have their strengths and weaknesses. While ChatGPT Plus offers a wider range of file analysis and the ability to create custom GPTs, Copilot Pro boasts more powerful integration with Microsoft Office, superior image generation capabilities, and a more engaging presentation of information. Consider your specific needs and preferences when deciding which service is worth your $20 a month.
