UK Minister Inaugurates New British Trade Office in Pune, Calls for Investment in UK Now

On Friday, United Kingdom Minister of Investment Lord Dominic Johnson inaugurated the new British Trade Office in the city of Pune, signaling the UK’s commitment to Maharashtra and India. During his visit, the Lord met with several business leaders and prospective investors, including Serum Institute of India, Bharat Forge and Zensar.

In his statement at the opening event, Lord Johnson said, “It’s great to be in India once again and to visit the bustling city of Pune for the inauguration of the British Trade Office, which serves as an indication of our commitment to Maharashtra and India. We are determined to be the number one investment destination in Europe and now is the time to invest in the UK in areas from life sciences to artificial intelligence. I want to thank all of the Pune locals who are running this office and hope for many successful years of collaboration between the UK and India.”

The official statement also shared how India still remains a key market for the UK and Lord Johnson’s visit will help to build momentum behind the current trade negotiations that are being undertaken between the two countries. The British Trade Office has been in Pune since several years, speaking to the numerous business hubs of the city and playing a major role in successfully obtaining numerous trade and investment wins in the futuristic arena, in addition to the manufacturing, future mobility and technology areas.
