Tech Mahindra CEO CP Gurnani has accepted the challenge issued by OpenAI founder Sam Altman that India cannot keep up with Silicon Valley in terms of artificial intelligence (AI) advancements. Altman said during a six-nation tour that it was totally hopeless for Indian companies to compete with the Valley on training foundational models for AI, but Gurnani tweeted Altman’s statement and said he accepted the challenge. During Altman’s visit, he also met Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi to discuss global regulation of AI and said he would fund Indian startups.
