Snapchat’s AI Bot: Not Intelligent Enough to Send Nudes

Date:

Snapchat has introduced an AI bot called My AI Snaps, which users can send snaps to and receive pictures in return. The social media platform’s previous GPT-powered chatbot drew controversy for lacking age-gating features. CEO Evan Spiegel acknowledged that users often try to test the limits of technology, especially if it has a tangential link to sex. However, My AI Snaps offered little opportunity for urban exploration, as it mostly provided barely coherent responses or non-sexual remarks. AI bots are currently one of the hottest areas of investment among tech companies and AI experts.

Snapchat is a social media platform launched in 2011. It became popular for enabling users to share photos and videos that only last for 24 hours before disappearing. The company has since expanded, adding features like My AI Snaps, an AI-powered chatbot.

Evan Spiegel is a US entrepreneur and co-founder of Snapchat. Born in 1990, he left university three classes before graduation to focus on his new social media platform with co-founder Bobby Murphy. As of 2021, Spiegel’s wealth is estimated at over $13bn by Forbes magazine.
