Siemens Healthineers Strengthens Partnership with the Philippines Government
Siemens Healthcare Inc. (Siemens Healthineers) has taken a significant step towards enhancing healthcare in the Philippines by submitting three Letters of Intent (LOI) to the government. This move underscores the company’s dedication to supporting the development of the country’s healthcare sector and fostering innovation in the industry.
During a recent ceremony at the German-Philippine Business Forum in Berlin, Siemens Healthineers presented the LOIs to Department of Trade and Industry Secretary Alfredo E. Pascual, in the presence of Philippine President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. The event was attended by key representatives and business leaders from both countries, highlighting the importance of the partnership.
The first LOI focuses on the establishment of a training center within a partner hospital to address the skills gap in radiology. This initiative aims to enhance healthcare quality by providing specialized training programs in mammography screening, covering various aspects such as anatomy, pathology, imaging techniques, interpretation, safety, and patient care.
The second LOI outlines plans to develop an Innovation Think Tank (ITT) hub and spoke model in the Philippines. Through collaborations with students, researchers, and working professionals, the ITT will drive disruptive innovation in healthcare, identifying improvement areas and fostering an inclusive innovation ecosystem.
Lastly, the third LOI aims to explore strategic and digital partnerships with the Department of Health to revolutionize healthcare in the country. By leveraging digital solutions such as eHealth, digital health, and AI capacity-building, Siemens Healthineers seeks to enhance the Philippines’ healthcare infrastructure and drive sustainable improvements in the sector.
In a statement, Michael Schmermer, President and Managing Director of Siemens Healthineers in the Philippines, emphasized the company’s commitment to creating positive impacts and transforming the healthcare landscape for the benefit of every Filipino. The submission of the LOIs signifies a strategic collaboration between Siemens Healthineers and the Philippine government, paving the way for a healthier future for all.
