Sam Altman’s OpenAI Orb: A Creepy Vision Scanner

Date:

OpenAI’s Sam Altman is working on a dystopian-sounding project called Worldcoin, which aims to scan every eyeball on planet earth in order to prove that each person is in fact human. In exchange, they will receive Worldcoin tokens. This is the brainchild of ChatGPT and was developed to identify who is a robot or human in the age of Artificial Intelligence (AI). This is Altman’s attempt to provide a form of universal basic income in the form of cryptocurrency.

The project has received $100 million dollars from investors including the indicted FTX fraudster Sam Bankman-Fried and Jeffrey Epstein’s former companion Reid Hoffman. There are already reports coming in that Worldcoin has used deceptive marketing techniques, exploited workers, and made wild promises of wealth with the goal of getting one billion sign-ups by the end of the year. Residents in Indonesia have already been recruited to participate in the iris-scanning project in exchange for Worldcoin tokens.

OpenAI is an American artificial intelligence (AI) research laboratory consisting of the for-profit corporation OpenAI LP and its parent company, the non-profit OpenAI Inc. Its mission is to ensure that artificial general intelligence (AGI) – the ability of a computer to understand or learn any task that a human being can – benefits all of humanity. To this end, OpenAI pursues research in a range of related topics, including deep learning, reinforcement learning, and unsupervised learning, and develops technologies and tools to help solve the key challenge of AGI.

Sam Altman, the CEO of OpenAI, is a successful entrepreneur, investor, programmer, and writer. He is best known for co-founding the venture capital firm Y Combinator, in which he served as president until 2019. He has been featured in the Time 100, Wired magazine’s 50 people who will change the world, and Fortune’s 40 Under 40. Additionally, he has appeared on numerous panels and keynotes and has written for a range of publications and websites. Altman is a highly sought after adviser, mentor, and investor, with an impressive portfolio of both successful companies and investments.
