Ranking the Most Fearsome Football Venues in the Pac-12 Conference

Date:

ChatGPT is a natural language processing tool driven by Artificial Intelligence technology that allows users to interact in human-like conversations with computers. While some people have found less than noble uses of the software, we thought it’d be fun to ask it to take on a light-hearted task of ranking the most intimidating stadiums to play in the Pac-12 Conference. Sure enough, it obliged.

Coming first on the list is Autzen Stadium at the University of Oregon, a stadium that has a well-earned reputation of being a difficult place for opposing teams to play. With a capacity of 54,000 and a rabid crowd inside, the Ducks frequently have the advantage playing here. In second place is Washington’s Husky Stadium which regularly reaches up to 70,000 people and comes with the added difficulty of having to play on the shore of Lake Washington. Third was California’s Memorial Stadium with a capacity of 63,000, and fourth was the home of the BYU Cougars, LaVell Edwards Stadium.

Rounding out the list were Arizona Stadium at Arizona State, Martin Stadium at Washington State, Rice-Eccles Stadium at Utah, Folsom Field at Colorado, Sun Devil Stadium at Arizona State, the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum at USC, and lastly, Stanford Stadium at Stanford. While some of these rankings may not come as a surprise, for example Stanford being at the bottom, others may have raised a few eyebrows. Arizona Stadium, for instance, benefits from its students being some of the most passionate fans in the conference and the added complication of having to adjust to the elevation playing in Albuquerque.
