OpenAI Chief Executive Officer, Sam Altman, and Indian Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, have discussed the potential of artificial intelligence (AI) in India‘s technology ecosystem. The meeting in New Delhi also discussed the need for global regulation. Altman, whose company developed ChatGPT, is on a six-nation tour this week and will be meeting with representatives from Israel, Jordan, Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, and South Korea. India has shown strong growth in the AI sector, with 416,000 people estimated to be employed in the sector, and contributing an estimated additional $957bn to the country’s economy by 2035.
