OpenAI to Launch Marketplace for AI Applications

OpenAI is planning to launch a platform that will allow AI developers to sell their models built on AI technology. The marketplace will be similar to an app store and will bring the global market onto a single platform. This is believed to be the next big AI revolution, potentially even as big as Apple’s App Store. The marketplace will enable vertical AI vendors to reach a global audience effortlessly and will serve as an ideal platform for them to monetize their offerings, generate substantial revenue, and expand their customer base. OpenAI’s democratisation plans also include releasing an open-source model that will not compete with their flagship GPT. However, OpenAI has not disclosed any information on how they will charge app developers or what kind of cuts the company will implement. Amazon also entered the field of foundational models marketplace two months ago with Bedrock, offering an API platform to help customers host generative AI models.
