OpenAI, an artificial intelligence company backed by Microsoft, recently announced new plans to come to its ChatGPT service. The company plans to launch a ChatGPT Business, which will be tailored specifically to enterprise customers and offer increased control over client data. This subscription model is set to launch in the coming months. In addition, OpenAI launched ChatGPT Plus earlier this year, a paid model that offers users exclusive access to the platform, faster responses times and access to new features. Following this, the company recently announced new privacy controls for regular, non-paid users that are designed to allow users to choose which conversations are used to train models.
OpenAI, founded in 2015 to “solve intelligence and make it widely available,” is advancing its artificial intelligence technology, building a wide range of services and products in the field. From software that can learn from raw data, to humanoid robot hands, the company is growing in size and breadth. With more than 400 employees, OpenAI is continuing to investigate the potential of AI, combining hardware and software to solve ‘real-world challenges’. Mikhail Belkin, Chief Architect at OpenAI, believes that AI will eventually be so ubiquitous as to be ‘invisible’.
The tale of OpenAI begins with a few tech tycoons in California, and since then the company has grown exponentially. The AI-centric firm is being led by CEO Sam Altman, who is joined by a formidable team of industry experts and academics. This includes such influential figures as Elon Musk, Peter Thiel, and former Google CEO Eric Schmidt. Driven by the desire to create smarter and more powerful technologies, their mission is to ‘advance digital intelligence in the way that is most likely to benefit humanity as a whole, unconstrained by a need to generate financial return’.
