OpenAI CEO plans to build AI startups in India after lack of trust in ChatGPT’s solutions

Date:

OpenAI CEO Sam Altman recently revealed plans to build AI startups in India during his visit to the country. Altman also discussed the potential of AI with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and interacted with the media at the Indraprasth Institute of Technology in New Delhi. Altman stated that he does not trust the answers generated by ChatGPT, the AI platform launched by OpenAI in November 2022. He cited incidents of the chatbot generating inaccurate and fake responses, including falsely accusing a US-based professor of sexually harassing a student. Altman also emphasized that AI is currently limited by hardware, and requires massive resources for training. However, he expressed excitement at the prospect of India embracing AI and being at the centre of AI innovation. Altman also called for innovative AI regulation that does not hamper important innovation. The OpenAI CEO appeared before a Senate panel in the US last month and called for AI regulation and the need for a governing body to monitor AI globally.
