Mercedes-Benz Tests Upgraded ChatGPT in Beta Testing Phase

German carmaker Mercedes-Benz is allowing drivers in the United States to beta-test ChatGPT integration into their MBUX Voice Assistant starting June 16, 2023. ChatGPT is an AI program that generates text similar to human-like style and accuracy. Current Mercedes-Benz models already have voice commands that allow drivers to make requests such as weather updates and destination searches. To add ChatGPT to the MB vehicle, drivers just need to say Hey Mercedes, I want to join the beta program and the MBUX Voice Assistant will link to ChatGPT via Microsoft’s Azure OpenAI Service. The official Mercedes-Benz website ensures data privacy and says it will not take driver information. Some critics have raised concerns about the usefulness of making the Voice Assistant answer complex questions and discuss recipes, and the tendency of ChatGPT to break its privacy and security policies. Mercedes-Benz has been integrating more gadgets and programs into its vehicles, such as Apple Music Spatial Audio and the Acceleration Increase add-on.
