Malaysia Boosts Cybersecurity with Collaboration with BlackBerry
In a significant move to enhance its cybersecurity posture, the Government of Malaysia has partnered with BlackBerry Limited, a renowned cybersecurity firm. The landmark agreement will enable the Malaysian Government to leverage the full suite of trusted cybersecurity solutions provided by BlackBerry. This collaboration aims to support the integrity of the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) while upskilling the nation’s workforce with advanced cybersecurity technology and training.
Under this long-term software and services agreement, the Malaysian public sector will benefit from secure, reliable, and real-time access to BlackBerry software and services. The hosted services will be housed in a sovereign cloud, ensuring data security and integrity. This comprehensive solution includes BlackBerry’s world-leading cybersecurity solutions powered by Cylance AI, which predicts and prevents cyberattacks. Additionally, NATO-certified BlackBerry SecuSUITE will be deployed for secure communications, BlackBerry UEM (Unified Endpoint Management) to protect government data, and BlackBerry AtHoc for critical event management and incident response.
As part of this collaboration, BlackBerry will establish a world-class Cybersecurity Center of Excellence (CCoE) in Malaysia by 2024. The establishment of the CCoE aims to address the country’s shortfall of 12,000 cyber professionals. This center will offer specialized training to advance Malaysian cybersecurity capacity and readiness, ensuring that the nation is equipped to deal with emerging cyber threats effectively. The Government of Canada has expressed its support for the establishment of the CCoE and plans to collaborate closely with BlackBerry, the Government of Malaysia, and the CCoE to deliver cybersecurity assistance, as mandated under the Indo-Pacific Strategy.
