Uber, the ride-hailing company, is aiming to make the user experience even more convenient with its recently filed patent for technology that would enable the app to predict riders’ habits. This technology, called pre-request matching, would enable Uber to be ready for your request even before you’ve requested it or paid your tab. This AI-powered technology would monitor users’ locations and activities, such as their daily commute to work or ordering the same dishes regularly, in order to anticipate when a request is needed.
This technology is not only applicable to Uber, however. Companies such as Netflix, Meta, and Visa are all using AI to customize user experiences to various purposes. Uber’s first-quarter earnings are up 29% year-over-year, with its ride-share and delivery apps booking approximately 24 million trips per day on average.
CEO Dara Khosrowshahi spoke of the company’s dedication to personalizing and improving user experience with AI-powered algorithms such as predicting arrival and delivery times. By continuing to develop technology such as pre-request matching, Uber looks set to take the user experience to the next level.
