iFlytek vs ChatGPT: Which is Better in Three Key Areas?

Date:

On May 6th, iFlytek, a Chinese information technology company, unveiled its large language model, SparkDesk, with seven core competencies at a press conference. The Chairman of iFlytek, Liu Qingfeng, asserted that the model outperformed China’s ChatGPT in text generation, question and answer and mathematical ability. He expressed hope that SparkDesk would outshine ChatGPT by the conclusion of October.

Analyzing ChatGPT’s 48 tasks and the requirements of four million developers from iFlytek’s open platform, Liu suggested that a general artificial intelligence must own seven competencies including text generation, language comprehension, question and answer, logical reasoning, mathematical ability, coding skill, and multimodal ability. He suggested that this breakthrough technology could transform our lives in previously unimaginable ways, from needing and distributing information, to creating content and interacting with virtual assistants, making each creative person an entrepreneur in the digital economy.

To manifest its potentials, SparkDesk undertook an on-site challenge and successfully generated a creative story based on the prompt. SparkDesk also managed emails, scheduling, press releases, advertisements, and corrected grammatical errors. Adding to those, it is much superior than ChatGPT in language capacities, particularly in producing long text. To supplement the model’s abilities, the iFlytek team is taking security measures to improve its performance.

Interesting demonstrations were also given in the four significant industries – education, office, automotive, and digital employees – to show the application of SparkDesk. In education, it served as an AI-assisted education assistant and a conversational teacher. In the workplace, SparkDesk could generate meeting minutes from handwritten notes. In the automotive industry, it improved the driving experience. It could finish tedious tasks for digital employees.
