Top South Korean companies, including Hyundai Motor, LG Energy Solution, and other major conglomerates, have come together with smaller firms to establish an alliance aimed at harnessing artificial intelligence (AI) for industry innovation. The industry AI alliance involves 20 conglomerates from 10 different sectors, spanning automotive, steel, battery, machinery, and robots. The Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy announced that around 400 smaller companies will collaborate on joint projects to leverage the latest AI technologies and explore opportunities for improvement across various industries.
The alliance aims to undertake 40 AI-based projects focusing on mobility, machinery, production optimization, and industrial waste management. Additionally, the participating companies will identify existing rules and regulations that may require revision in order to create a more favorable business environment. The First Vice Industry Minister, Jang Young-jin, emphasized the necessity of fundamental innovation to address global uncertainties and overcome inherent industry limitations.
