Google has announced the upcoming release of the June Feature Drop for its Pixel series, introducing a host of new and enhanced features to its hardware lineup. The update, set to roll out gradually over the next few weeks, will be available for supported Pixel phones, tablets, and smartwatches.
One of the key highlights of this update is the integration of the Gemini Nano generative AI model into the Pixel 8 and Pixel 8A phones. Previously exclusive to Pixel 8 Pro owners, this mobile-ready AI model can now be accessed by users through the device settings, bringing advanced AI capabilities to a wider range of users.
Additionally, the Recorder app will see significant improvements with the update, including detailed summaries of recordings for enhanced usability. Exclusive to the Pixel 8 family, a new Find My Device feature has been introduced, allowing users to locate their phone even when it is powered off or when the battery is drained for up to 23 hours.
Furthermore, Pixel 8 and Pixel 8A users will now have the ability to connect their devices to external displays via Display Port output through the USB-C jack. This feature enables users to mirror their phone’s interface on a larger screen, enhancing the overall user experience.
Other notable features in the update include support for Display Port connectivity on Pixel 8 and Pixel 8A, reverse phone number lookup for unknown numbers in the call log, and fall and crash detection capabilities for the Pixel Watch 2. In case of a severe crash, the device will notify emergency contacts with location details through the Emergency Sharing feature. The Pixel tablet will also offer fall detection from bicycles and doorbell notifications.
Stay tuned for these exciting updates that Google is bringing to its Pixel series devices in the upcoming June Feature Drop.
