Microsoft has been a leader in the software and technology industry for decades now and has continuously worked to stay on the cutting-edge of innovation and advancement. Recently, Bing Chat had been revealed to have undergone several improvements in AI-based search capabilities and functionality. One of the newest updates enables Bing Chat to exhibit a range of new and improved features, such as an open preview and improved visual answer display, making it more ChatGPT-like.
Previously, users had to wait for a spot on the waitlist to get on Bing Chat, however, with the newly implemented open preview, they no longer need to wait and instead just need to sign up with a free Microsoft account and view the web version on any Microsoft Edge-supported browser. Bing Chat is no longer limited to search queries either, as it can now also provide richer and more visual answers, along with charts and graphs. Moreover, conversations can be exported, images can be created in all supported languages, and a chat history is also available for users.
In the near future, Microsoft plans to allow Bing Chat to complete some of the requested action autonomously, providing a much needed boost in efficiency and usability. For instance, one could ask for movie recommendation and then reply with a request to open the website on their Apple TV. Furthermore, third-party plugins for OpenTable and Wolfram|Alpha are also being implemented, to better provide users with access to various services and answers to complex questions from Bing Chat.
All in all, Microsoft’s vision for Bing Chat is to make it more of a virtual assistant that can help not just with simple searches, but also more complex tasks. However, it remains to be seen if its accuracy has improved enough to justify such capabilities. Nonetheless, this new reveal is quite impressive and potentially groundbreaking, as it shows the potential for the future of AI search engines.
