Professor Melanie Moses from the University of New Mexico emphasized the importance of transparency and disclosure in the use of AI tools. She stressed the need for forced disclosure on artificially created content, such as fake photos or videos, as they are increasingly deceiving people. In response, Senate Majority Leader Peter Wirth encouraged lawmakers to address the issue in next year’s legislative session. The experts called for regulatory guidelines to combat the proliferation of AI-generated falsehoods and protect the public from the confusion they create.
