Expanding its Presence in Europe: Reddit Opens Up its Amsterdam Hub

Date:

Reddit, an American-based social media platform, is expanding their presence in Europe with the opening of their first regional sales hub in Amsterdam. This move comes after the establishment of offices in Dublin, London, and Berlin in the past few years, making Amsterdam a perfect destination due to its proximity to cities with a large customer base like Germany and France, and its availability of competitive talent.

The new hub has much ambition, aiming to bring together EMEA markets in one location and to assist the platform’s European-based advertisers in reaching their goals. Currently, the office is housing about 50 employees in its teams for sales and engineering, and plans on doubling the number by the end of 2023 making it Reddit’s largest office in continental Europe by worker size.

The move is more than just a sign of growth. Susanne Mostertman, EMEA Head of Mid-Market and Small Business (SMB) Sales and leader of the Amsterdam hub, spoke of the realities of being present in Europe. She said that nearly 80% of Reddit’s users in the region are open to seeing ads and content from brands on the platform, gaining more trust in those brands than their competitors who advertise elsewhere.

The new office is also providing a number of existing partners such as Klarna, a payment provider, and Back Market, a refurbished device market, with opportunities to reach out to a large and diverse digital community. Salah Said, Head of Sustainability at Klarna, showed his support for the venture and told of how partnering with Reddit for advertising results in an increase of responsible buying.

The hub is located in Amsterdam’s Plantage neighborhood, and Reddit is still recruiting for staff members for the team. A special event for recruiting will take place later this spring.

Reddit has surely become an attractive company for employers. With a mission to better connect advertisers with those who will use their services, and a drive to be the largest digital platform of its kind in Europe, Reddit is sure to continue on a successful trajectory. With a vast selection of tech-related opportunities in it’s hub in Amsterdam, the company is ready to take the next steps in their European expansion.
