Ericsson has joined forces with the Department of Telecom (DoT) in India to enhance the skills of 10,000 students in the realm of 5G technology. This partnership aims to cultivate a workforce that is fully prepared for the advent of 5G in the country.
Through this collaboration, Ericsson will grant students access to its online learning platform, Ericsson Educate – 21st Century Technologies Programme, in 100 institutes equipped with 5G labs established by DoT. The students will have the opportunity to engage in digital courses that cover cutting-edge technologies like 5G, AI, IoT, Machine Learning, and more, all free of charge.
The Memorandum of Understanding was inked by key representatives from TCOE, DoT, and Ericsson India, solidifying their commitment to this educational initiative. The goal is to diminish the skills gap and foster a pool of talented individuals who can drive India’s digital transformation across various sectors.
I am confident that the 5G Labs will help us create new 5G use cases for the country, expressed Ashwini Vaishnaw, Minister for Communications, Electronics & IT and Railways. This collaboration aims to equip students with the necessary competencies in emerging technologies, aligning with the vision of Digital India.
In an effort to unlock the potential of 5G in the nation, the partnership between Ericsson and DoT comes at a crucial time. By providing students with access to 5G technology courses, the initiative seeks to enable the development of use cases that cater to local needs, enhance productivity, and expedite digitalization efforts.
For Ericsson, a telecom giant with a long-standing presence in India, this collaboration signifies their dedication to fostering meaningful connectivity for purposes beyond commercial interests. The partnership emphasizes the importance of building a skilled workforce to support India’s journey towards 5G proliferation and the monetization of use cases across industries.
