During the Town Hall meeting with locals on Saturday, Enugu State Governor, Peter Mbah, reiterated his commitment to prioritizing workers’ welfare. He assured the attendees that the payment of wage awards to state workers would continue until the committee on the new minimum wage finalizes its work.
Governor Mbah highlighted the importance of education in combating poverty and announced plans to establish SMART Schools across 260 wards by September 2025. These schools will incorporate advanced technologies such as tablets for students and smart boards for teachers to enhance learning experiences.
Furthermore, the Governor emphasized the government’s efforts to improve healthcare by building level two Primary Health Centres in all wards to reduce infant and maternal mortality rates. Additionally, he revealed plans to generate and distribute electricity in the state to support homes and businesses, following the establishment of the Enugu State Electricity Commission.
