The rise of Artificial Intelligence (AI) could potentially be more significant than the internet itself, says Jeetu Patel, Cisco’s EVP and General Manager, Security & Collaboration. Patel believes AI marks the beginning of the fourth era of user experience, following command line, graphical user interfaces, and touch-based interfaces. He contended that generative AI is a particularly exciting development because machines’ language comprehension changes the concept for software design, which is an entirely new approach to how the industry has previously worked.
Patel announced further information about the Cisco Security Cloud offering in the keynote, where he divulged how powerful AI could be in the security industry. The platform will include a generative AI-powered Policy Assistant, enabling IT teams to describe specific security policies and evaluate how best to implement them across various aspects of their security infrastructure. The platform will also see the arrival of SOC Assistant which would support Security Operations Center (SOC) to detect and respond to threats faster. It provides contextual information to the SOC analyst across different areas such as e-mail, the web, endpoints, and the network, enabling the analyst to see what happened and the impact.
Patel also highlighted the close relationship between Cisco Security Cloud and Cisco Network Cloud. He said there was high coordination between both platforms, where the naming convention was just the beginning of their partnership. He emphasized that you can’t be in the connectivity business if you’re not in the protection business, and stressed that Cisco Security meets the network in a way that no other organization does.
