Artificial intelligence (AI) has been used to create what could be the final Beatles record by extracting John Lennon’s voice from an old demo, according to Paul McCartney. The technology was deployed to separate the band’s voices from background sound during the making of a 2021 documentary series by director Peter Jackson called The Beatles: Get Back. McCartney said the new song will soon be released to the public. Jackson was able to extricate John’s voice from a ropey little bit of cassette and a piano, McCartney told the BBC. McCartney also described AI as kind of scary but exciting.
