Can You Identify the Difference Between ChatGPT and a Doctor? A Quiz

Date:

A study published in JAMA Internal Medicine on Friday revealed that ChatGPT, an Artificial Intelligence (AI) tool, is capable of outperforming physicians when it comes to answering medical questions. In fact, the results showed that ChatGPT was significantly more skilled, with an impressive 79% of the time. Moreover, the AI was almost ten times more likely to be rated as providing an empathetic response when compared to a doctor’s answer. As a result, the study’s authors are now advocating for the medical community to begin carrying out “phase one clinical trials” in order to deploy AI in the healthcare system.

The idea of incorporating AI into the healthcare sector has been around for a while. However, its reception has often been poor. A renowned investor, Martin Shkreli, was even banned from Twitter after introducing his own AI-based medical advice website. The underlying issue at play is the fact that AI tools like ChatGPT and Google’s Bard, have a tendency to be “convincingly human” without necessarily providing accurate information.

The potential benefits of AI in the healthcare sector, however, should not be overlooked, and are worth seriously considering. These tools can help save lives, by allowing medical practitioners to communicate with more people at once. To demonstrate this, ten examples have been pulled from the study, and have been placed up top. Five responses will be written by a doctor, and the other five by ChatGPT. Can you tell the difference?
