AI & ML Job Roles Surge in India; Oil & Gas Sector Hiring Boom – Latest Report

Hiring for artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) jobs in India saw a significant uptick in March 2024, showcasing a 12% increase compared to the same period last year. The Naukri JobSpeak Index reported a notable surge in job creation for roles such as machine learning engineer, which experienced an impressive 82% growth.

The demand for full stack data scientists also witnessed a positive trend, with a 20% increase in hiring activity from the previous year. Dr Pawan Goyal, Chief Business Officer of Naukri.com, expressed optimism about the future, highlighting the potential for continued growth in the AI and ML job market.

In addition to the tech sector, hiring in the oil & gas industry saw a notable increase of 22% in March 2024, with a particular demand for MEP engineers and electrical engineers. Cities like Ahmedabad and Hyderabad emerged as key hubs for hiring in this sector.

Meanwhile, the pharma sector experienced a modest 2% growth in hiring compared to the previous year. Senior professionals with extensive experience, over 16 years, continued to attract significant attention from employers, with an 11% increase in hiring activity in March.

Jodhpur led the hiring trends among cities, with a 13% growth in new job creation, followed by Rajkot, Raipur, and Guwahati. The positive hiring trends in these key sectors and cities indicate a promising outlook for the job market in India, particularly in the AI, ML, and tech industries.
