Microsoft and Epic are expanding their strategic collaboration to develop and integrate generative AI into healthcare. This co-innovation combines the power of Azure OpenAI Service with Epic’s Electronic Health Record (EHR) software to help organizations achieve increased productivity and improved patient care. The initial solution is already underway, with several leading healthcare organizations deploying enhancements to automatically draft message responses. Additionally, Epic’s SlicerDicer self-service reporting tool will include natural language queries and interactive data analysis for clinical leaders to explore data in a conversational and intuitive way.
Microsoft is committed to responsibly developing and deploying AI for a positive impact on society. To that end, Microsoft has introduced a set of core principles that guide their development: fairness, reliability and safety, privacy and security, inclusiveness, transparency, and accountability. Further information about this collaboration can be found at the Microsoft, Nuance, and Epic booths at the 2023 HIMSS Global Health Conference in Chicago.
