Tata Communications, in collaboration with Microsoft, has announced a partnership aimed at empowering voice calling in Teams for enterprises based in India. The initiative, called Tata Communications GlobalRapide, leverages the Operator Connect platform to facilitate seamless PSTN voice calls for Indian enterprise users as well as multinational companies operating in the country. This service enables users to make and receive carrier-grade calls using Teams devices from anywhere in the world. Sriram Sampath, Vice President of Unified Communications & Collaboration at Tata Communications, highlighted the importance of collaboration tools and the need for a global partner with local expertise to maximize their benefits. The GlobalRapide platform offers a managed services layer that oversees the deployment, onboarding, and management of Teams, endpoint devices, and session border controllers (SBCs). It ensures usability, security, regulatory compliance, and complete control and visibility for enterprises without incurring additional hardware costs. Tata Communications, with partnerships spanning over 700 mobile network operators in more than 190 countries, is well-positioned to provide regulatory-compliant cloud calling and audio-conferencing capabilities. The GlobalRapide platform enhances fraud prevention measures and closely adheres to local market regulations, enabling secure collaboration for businesses with global value chains. Microsoft India and South Asia’s Country Head for Modern Work and Surface, Shruti Bhatia, expressed their commitment to delivering greater efficiencies and productivity gains for businesses through the partnership with Tata Communications. The collaboration reflects their dedication to helping enterprises grow and scale seamlessly, efficiently, and securely. This partnership follows Tata Communications’ recent launch of its cloud-based calling solution, JAMVEE, to enhance employee experience and productivity. The company also acquired CPaaS provider Kaleyra in a $100 million deal to strengthen its omnichannel integrated communication services and expand its presence in banking and financial services, retail, and digital commerce industries. Microsoft has also collaborated with Airtel, Tata, and Tata Tele Business Services to expand Teams cloud calling solutions for customers in India. Additionally, the company introduced the Microsoft 365 Document Collaboration Partner Program, allowing eligible platform providers to integrate Microsoft 365 apps and enabling seamless sharing, editing, and co-authoring of presentations, spreadsheets, and documents. There are also speculations regarding the release of the next version of Microsoft’s Windows software, which is expected later this year, as discussed by Qualcomm’s CEO Cristiano Amon during a recent earnings call. The release of Qualcomm’s ARM-based Snapdragon X Elite is anticipated to align with the release of the next version of Windows, embedding AI capabilities.
