Elon Musk Creates AI to Take on ‘Politically Correct’ ChatGPT

Date:

Billionaire entrepreneur Elon Musk recently spoke to Fox News host Tucker Carlson about his plans to create a new AI chatbot called “TruthGPT” that he believes will be better equipped to tackle PC bias. Mr. Musk’s project is in response to the increasingly popular ChatGPT, which has been accused of liberal bias.

Mr. Musk has, for quite some time, held opinions about artificial intelligence. In his interview with Mr. Carlson, he emphasized his belief that AI possess the potential to destroy humanity, and thus requires proper regulations to ensure such destruction does not occur.

To tackle the issue, he and his advisor Jared Birchall have founded X.AI Corp. in Nevada. This venture has marked Mr. Musk’s move away from his early involvement in OpenAI, the organization behind ChatGPT; this began with Mr. Musk’s resignation from OpenAI’s board in early 2018. His departure from OpenAI was to focus attention on engineering issues at Tesla, and some differences of opinion with OpenAI’s founders.

It was only after Mr. Musk left OpenAI that it was made clear that OpenAI had intentions to become a for-profit business, rather than their original form as a nonprofit institute. OpenAI also introduced the first generation of GPT – the system used for ChatGPT – about a year after Mr. Musk’s departure.

Mr. Musk himself is well known for his involvement in Tesla and SpaceX, and has achieved great success in the technology field throughout his career. Recently, there have been investigations into the quality of Tesla’s AI systems, as US safety regulators have announced an investigation into a fatal crash involving a Tesla suspected of using an automated driving system.

Therefore, with the venture of X.AI Corp. and the introduction of “TruthGPT”, Mr. Musk is looking to tackle the potential bias of AI systems while also exploring potential regulations of artificial intelligence. His hopes of potentially using AI to understand humanity rather than harm it echo his past successes in the industry.
