Google for India Unveils Innovative AI & Internet Tech: Live Event on October 19
Google for India is set to host its ninth edition event on October 19, where the tech giant will showcase exciting innovations in artificial intelligence (AI) and internet technologies. The live event, which will be streamed on the Google India YouTube channel starting at 11am, is expected to unveil new AI tools and applications specifically designed for Indian users. Google also aims to discuss its plans to enhance internet access in India.
The event, themed around Chandrayaan-3, the Indian Space Research Organisation’s lunar lander and rover, promises to offer announcements ranging from access to the internet to success on the internet with the help of AI. Google aims to share new ways to bring more users online and provide better internet access, along with introducing AI features tailored specifically for Indian users, expected to roll out in the coming months.
In previous Google for India events, the company introduced several notable innovations. At the eighth edition, Google unveiled the ‘Multisearch’ feature, enabling users to combine images or screenshots with text queries for more accurate results. They also introduced a feature that allowed the searching of specific moments in YouTube videos and a solution for digitizing doctors’ handwritten prescriptions.
During the 2022 event, Google focused on enhancing document access by providing a secure means for users to access documents in Digilocker through the Google Files app. These documents are stored in a protected environment on the user’s device, requiring authentication for access. In the midst of the pandemic, the 2021 event introduced a Google Assistant feature that enabled users to book vaccination slots via the CoWIN portal in multiple Indian languages, making the process more inclusive.
The seventh edition of Google for India brought a Hinglish language option for Google Pay, aiming to make interactions more user-friendly. They also introduced a bill-splitting feature and a speech-to-text option for entering payment amounts and account numbers using voice commands. In 2021, Google announced weather-related features such as checking air quality index (AQI) levels through Google search, receiving alerts for extreme weather conditions, and predicting floods through the Google Flood Forecasting Initiative.
