OpenAI has introduced a new feature for its ChatGPT called ‘customized instructions,’ allowing users to share specific information with the AI-powered chatbot for future interactions. This feature is currently in Beta for Plus users and will be rolled out to all users in the near future, except in the UK and EU. With custom instructions, users have the flexibility to edit or delete them at any time when engaging in new conversations.
OpenAI ensures that users’ instructions will not be shared with shared link viewers, maintaining privacy. However, if third-party plug-ins are used, the model may provide relevant information from instructions to the developers of those plug-ins. OpenAI advises users to only trust and use plug-ins that they are comfortable sharing information with, protecting sensitive details.
Apart from enhancing user experience, the use of custom instructions will aid in improving the model’s performance. It enables the model to adapt its responses to the users’ instructions without going overboard.
To access this feature on iOS, users can navigate to ChatGPT Account Settings and then select ‘Custom Instructions.’ On the web, users can click on their name, choose ‘Custom Instructions,’ enter instructions in the provided fields, and click ‘Show tips’ for examples. After inputting the desired instructions, users must save them for future use.
OpenAI also notes that when users delete their OpenAI accounts, any custom instructions associated with their accounts will be deleted within 30 days.
In a recent update, OpenAI included Bing integration for Plus plan users on the iOS version of ChatGPT. Furthermore, the company made enhancements to the history search feature.
OpenAI’s latest feature, ‘customized instructions,’ introduces a new level of personalization to the ChatGPT experience. Users can provide specific instructions and enhance the AI’s responses accordingly. This feature ensures privacy and offers users more control over their conversations. OpenAI continues to update and expand the capabilities of ChatGPT for an improved user experience.
