AI Rivalry Intensifies as Baidu and DeepMind Compete for Top Spot Against OpenAI

The competition among artificial intelligence (AI) companies has taken center stage lately as Baidu and DeepMind are both aiming for OpenAI’s top spot. This came after OpenAI’s LP’s ChatGPT took the world by storm because of its ability to generate human-like conversations, write essays, researches, and even solve logic and problem-solving questions. As such, Baidu claimed that its Ernie 3.5 chatbot model has already outperformed ChatGPT in comprehensive ability scores, but Baidu fell short of GPT-4 in overall comprehensive ability. On the other hand, DeepMind’s AI lab claims that its generative AI system, Gemini, is designed to surpass ChatGPT and GPT-4 with its enhanced language model and game-playing algorithms for superior problem-solving ability. Demis Hassabis, DeepMind’s co-founder, explains that Gemini would combine the power of a large language model with AlphaGo’s logic and planning capabilities, thus producing a new and innovative generative AI system.
