Mercedes has teamed up with OpenAI to bring their conversation bot, ChatGPT, to its vehicles. The AI model will be integrated with Mercedes’ MBUX in-car infotainment system, which already offers voice control. Mercedes will soon be releasing a software update that will allow enthusiasts to join the beta program. To participate, users simply need to say, Hey Mercedes, I want to join the beta program, and they will be added to the queue. The beta program will cover more than 900,000 Mercedes cars that come equipped with the MBUX infotainment hardware in the US market, with a three-month testing phase slated to start on June 16. The findings will be used to refine the ChatGPT skill before global expansion. General Motors is reportedly exploring ChatGPT integration for its own brands, with the support of Microsoft’s Azure cloud service.
