Tech Mahindra’s Chief Executive, CP Gurnani, has accepted the challenge to create an AI tool capable of matching OpenAI’s ChatGPT. The challenge arose after Sam Altman, CEO of AI research entity OpenAI, spoke with Indian entrepreneurs and media and commented that it would be hopeless for Indian firms to compete with the AI giant. ChatGPT, which can write entire essays and even poetry, has taken the world by storm, with Microsoft investing in it to boost its Bing search engine, Google creating its own version with Bard, and Elon Musk launching an anti-woke AI. However, Gurnani is confident that India’s history of entrepreneurship, spanning 5,000 years, proves that Indian firms cannot be underestimated. Rajan Anandan, VC, also tweeted his agreement.
