OpenAI CEO Impressed by India’s Achievements

Date:

OpenAI’s CEO, Sam Altman, expressed his appreciation towards India’s national tech/assets being developed by the government, stating that it is impressive and unlike any other country. However, he believes that the focus should be on integrating this technology with other services. At an event held by the Economic Times, Altman stated that AI research efforts should be put towards building large language models (LLMs) or pursuing new research directions, and a publicly-funded AI effort would be a good idea. Altman also mentioned that AI may make some jobs redundant, but it will also create new and better jobs. The socio-economic contract will have to change to accommodate these new job opportunities. Altman is scheduled to meet with Prime Minister Narendra Modi to discuss further on the topic.
