Regulating and Governing Superintelligence: OpenAI CEO Discusses ChatGPT AI

Date:

As Artificial Intelligence is rapidly advancing and becoming a hot topic these days, it has prompted governments and other authorities to consider the need to regulate it. Tech personalities like Sundar Pichai and Elon Musk, both are outspoken in this regard and now OpenAI’s CEO Sam Altman has joined them in the conversation. OpenAI is a company behind ChatGPT, an AI-based tool. Altman, along with two other executive members from the OpenAI team, published a statement addressing the repercussions of ‘superintelligence’ on their blog post.

OpenAI believes that collaborative efforts from different development firms can help further the development of this technology in a safe manner. Moreover, the team also recommended the government to set up a project where companies can join in and look into the progress. Furthermore, for continuously keeping an eye on the top developments, a particular agency should be exclusively responsible for the same.

OpenAI further stated that AI systems can potentially surpass the experts’ skill level in most domains and capable of carrying out huge tasks in a decade. Altman further recommended proper regulations to ensure safety and trustworthiness of the AI systems.

OpenAI is a US-based AI regulatory and research organization based in San Francisco.
