Recently, Zoom, an online meetings platform, has updated their Zoom IQ product as a ‘smart companion’ to better assist its users. Through the help of OpenAI and Anthropic, Zoom IQ is now able to summarise chat threads, draft conversations, emails, and whiteboard sessions, as well as to create meeting agendas automatically.
Smita Hashim, Zoom’s chief product officer, stated that the company is using a ‘federated approach’ to incorporate AI features. With this new update, teams can ask Zoom IQ to summarise what has been discussed when they join the meeting late. They can also ask Zoom IQ to generate whiteboards based on the conversation, and post summary information to Zoom Team Chat, providing reminders to action items to team members.
Chat threads can also be summarised through Zoom IQ, allowing users to catch up on any topics they missed. Additionally, Zoom IQ chat compose assists users to find the right words through drafting their messages while making sure that they still sound natural. Lastly, Zoom IQ can generate meeting agendas automatically depending on the context of the conversation.
The company is aiming to roll out these features to select customers via invitation. Zoom recently acquired Workvivo in Cork and is continuing to improve their AI capabilities, helping it to stay ahead of its competitors.
