Cloud services provider Zoho has announced that it is developing its large language model (LLM) to rival OpenAI’s GPT and Google’s PaLM 2. The project, overseen by CEO Sridhar Vembu, will be carried out by the company’s R&D team in India. The proprietary LLM model will be able to summarise, paraphrase, and adapt to new tasks. The VP of Marketing and Customer Experience at Zoho, Praval Singh, revealed that the company has not yet set a timeline for the project. Zoho currently employs around 12,000 people globally, with the majority of these being in India. The company is optimistic about the relevance of its solutions, particularly in India, despite the economic challenges posed by the global macro headwinds. Zoho boasts a 65% three-year compound annual growth rate in the mid-market and enterprise sectors globally, representing one-third of its overall business. Some of Zoho’s customers include BigBasket, Byju’s, and Mercedes-Benz India.
