YouTube Unveils ‘Dream Track’, AI-Generated Music Project with Prominent Artists
YouTube, owned by Google, is venturing into the realm of artificial intelligence-generated music with its latest project called ‘Dream Track’. Through the use of Google DeepMind’s Lyria music composition model, users will have the ability to create music tracks based on simple written prompts or even hummed tunes.
Lyor Cohen, YouTube’s worldwide head of music, explained that the goal of this endeavor is to explore how technology can foster stronger connections between creators, musicians, and their fans. In its initial phase, the experiment aims to delve into the potential of utilizing technology to forge deeper relationships between artists, creators, and their audience.
To kickstart this endeavor, YouTube has collaborated with nine renowned performers, including Alec Benjamin, Demi Lovato, and Sia. These artists will have the opportunity to write original soundtracks for their short films, lasting up to 30 seconds. By integrating technology into their platform, YouTube aims to empower creators to produce high-quality content without relying on external websites.
In addition, YouTube is also experimenting with AI techniques that can transform hummed sounds into complete music tracks. They envision a future where musicians can easily translate their ideas into actual music, whether it’s humming a melody or reimagining the genre of a composition.
The artists, songwriters, and producers in the Music AI Incubator are helping us test, learn, gain feedback, and hear ideas so that we can develop the best experiences possible for our community of artists, viewers, and fans, stated the company.
With Dream Track, YouTube is pushing the boundaries of music creation and forging new paths for artists, creators, and fans to engage with one another. By leveraging the power of artificial intelligence, the platform aims to enhance creativity and foster stronger connections within the music community.
In an ever-evolving digital landscape, YouTube continues to pave the way for innovation, revolutionizing how creators and musicians collaborate and interact with their audience. The promise of AI-generated music brings forth exciting possibilities for the future of the industry.
