YouTube Music, a widely popular audio streaming platform globally, is constantly evolving to enhance user experiences. In a recent update, the platform is experimenting with a new AI feature that allows users to generate custom radio stations through natural language prompts.
Initially reported by 9To5Google, this feature may be accessible through an Ask for music any way you like card that appears in the Home feed for eligible users. The interface includes a chat-style field where users can enter prompts to create their custom radio stations, similar to Spotify’s AI DJ function.
The feature is presented as a fullscreen UI with an ‘Experiment’ badge to indicate its experimental nature. Users can input audio-based prompts, but the app warns that the quality and accuracy may vary. Additionally, users are advised not to input any personal or confidential information. The feature provides a carousel of suggested prompts like ‘Catchy pop choruses’ or ‘Epic soundtracks’ to get users started.
Based on the prompt, the generated radio station is named with a Created for you label and description. Suggested songs are displayed along with options to play, add to the library, or access the overflow menu. As of now, the feature is reportedly available to a single Reddit user, as discovered in an APK Teardown by Android Authority.
