Google’s popular video-sharing site, YouTube, has announced it is introducing an artificial intelligence (AI)-powered dubbing service to make it easier for users to translate their videos into different languages. The tool is based on Aloud, an AI-powered dubbing platform, which will first transcribe videos, giving creators a transcription that they can edit. It will then translate and produce a dub track. At present, Aloud can support a few languages, including English, Spanish and Portuguese. The tool is currently being tested with hundreds of creators, but YouTube plans to add more languages in the future. The company is also working to enhance the translated audio tracks to match the creator’s voice, with more expression and lip-sync in 2024. The move by YouTube is expected to help creators add multi-language dubs to their videos.
