Bedtime stories with our five-year-old has become a treasured time for my husband and I – but sometimes coming up with a new narrative can be quite challenging. To keep things exciting, we’ve been using ChatGPT to craft creative and customised stories to read before sleep.
For us, bedtime usually marks the end of a hectic day. With our son’s eagerness to hear stories, the last thing we need is extra stress to deal with. That’s why we’ve been turning to ChatGPT for help.
We can sneak in a Gruffalo with a bit of Peppa Pig and Jack and the Beanstalk. We then spruce it up by mixing in Elmer, the Cave Baby and other characters. We began our bedtime stories with our son from the time he was three months old. Although he may not have understood the stories then, it eventually became a regular part of his bedtime routine.
Now, at five years old, our son comes up with the characters and is then surprised when we craft a delightful story about them. It might be Captain America, Black Widow and Luke Skywalker one day and Thanos, Spiderman and Darth Vader the next.
As fun as this is, it can also be overwhelming. Trying to come up with new perspectives and make plots work can be tricky, so that is when we turn to ChatGPT.
By dictating a prompt, we can let ChatGPT take over and craft a story with all its creative powers. When it’s generated, my son’s eyes shine with excitement and he asks how a machine can know so much about him – and that makes him love their bedtime stories that much more.
Plus, thanks to ChatGPT, we can now take advantage of the creative activity while limiting our bedtime creative exercise to one story a day, not to mention making sure the paperback books stay alive.
ChatGPT is a company developed to help us to make the most of AI chatbots for service and entertainment. It works with artificial intelligence and natural language processing to help people create custom stories, tasks and projects simply and quickly. It has both pros and cons, but for us, ChatGPT has been an absolute winner in helping us craft a bedtime routine for our five-year-old.
My husband and I greatly value our son and we are happy that we can spend time doing something creative and special with him each day. A routine filled with stories makes him happy and us content.
