The World Government Summit (WGS), scheduled to take place in Dubai from February 12 to 14, will showcase esteemed AI experts and Nobel laureates. This year’s summit, centered around the theme of artificial intelligence (AI), will bring together more than 300 prime ministers, heads of international organizations, business leaders, and eight Nobel laureates.
Renowned AI experts such as Sam Altman, the co-founder of OpenAI, and Jensen Huang, president of Nvidia Corporation, will be among the prominent figures at the summit. The event will also feature the annual gathering for the Time 100 AI list, which recognizes the most influential individuals in the field of artificial intelligence.
Mohammed Al Gergawi, Minister of Cabinet Affairs and WGS chairman, emphasized the significance of AI and its profound impact on our daily lives. Al Gergawi believes that while AI may not change the world within the next five years, it will certainly do so in the coming 1,000 years. He stated that AI has the potential to solve numerous problems and bring about major changes.
Leaders, experts, and senior officials from over 150 countries will convene in Dubai to shape the future of governance and explore innovative solutions for upcoming challenges. The summit will encompass 15 conferences dedicated to various topics including AI, government services, urbanization, education, and smart mobility. It will also feature six additional conferences covering health, sustainable development, future economies, and advanced technology.
With over 4,000 participants from both the public and private sectors, the summit aims to engage in 110 interactive sessions. These sessions will include the insights of 200 speakers representing 80 international, regional, and intergovernmental organizations, including esteemed entities such as the UN, the World Bank, the International Monetary Fund, the World Health Organization, the International Atomic Energy Agency, and the Arab League.
The World Government Summit has transformed into a knowledge platform for new and innovative ideas, acting as a gathering place for global minds working towards the betterment of the world. Al Gergawi noted that this year’s summit will host future creators from the private sector, particularly in fields such as technology, energy, finance, and transportation. Moreover, the summit will recognize outstanding contributions from heads of governments, private sector players, and innovators towards shaping a better future. Awards such as the Best Minister Award, the Dubai International Best Practices Award for Sustainable Development, the Edge of Government Award, the Best Government Application Award, and the Global Government Excellence Award will be presented.
Over the past decade, the World Government Summit has welcomed more than 50 presidents, 2,500 ministers, 1,550 speakers, and 38,000 participants, solidifying its place as a prominent event in global governance.
